Project Objectives
This project was created for the final episode of Built Not Born, a vlog series where Yannick challenged himself across different areas of his life.
One of the main challenges in the series was his preparation for HYROX, alongside the personal goal of reaching 9% body fat. What started as a story about discipline, ambition, and pushing limits became something much more complex: a physical and emotional collapse caused by taking the challenge too far.
The objective of the video was to turn that journey into a strong final episode — not just showing the challenge itself, but the consequences behind it.
Content Planning
Because the footage was provided by the client, our role was to find the strongest story inside the raw material.
The edit was built around a hero’s journey structure: the initial call to challenge himself, the commitment to transformation, the pressure of the process, the breaking point, and the final reflection.
The goal was to make the episode feel like a complete story, not just a montage of training clips. It needed to show the ambition, the discipline, the obsession, and the cost of chasing an extreme physical goal.
The narrative was shaped to keep the audience emotionally invested while making the message clear: growth is powerful, but pushing past the body’s limits can come with a serious price.
Post-Production
The full episode was built in post-production using client-provided raw footage.
The edit focused on storytelling, pacing, emotional rhythm, and narrative tension. We structured the footage to create a clear arc, moving from motivation and intensity into pressure, collapse, and consequence.
The final cut balanced training footage, personal moments, reflection, and emotional beats, making the episode feel raw, human, and cinematic without losing the vlog identity of the series.
Results
The final video became a powerful closing chapter for Built Not Born, turning Yannick’s fitness challenge into a story about ambition, identity, discipline, and the danger of pushing too far.
By shaping the raw footage through a hero’s journey structure, the episode became more than a fitness vlog. It became a human story about limits, consequences, and what it really means to build yourself.
